Everyday is a day to celebrate fashion. I like to use the phrase fashion is my passion, and you will be seeing enough of that here actually. To kick us off, here is a piece from my label, House of Valentcia.

The Ultimate Nirvana

Nirvana. A very common word associated with Hinduism and Buddhism. After doing a little research of what nirvana is, this is what I could find. Nirvana is a place of perfect peace and happiness, like heaven. It is a place of ultimate enlightenment meaning a person’s individual desires and suffering go away. Achieving nirvana is to make earthly feelings like suffering and desire disappear.

I came across nirvana as I was thinking about the word DESIRE.

And what is desire? – To wish or long for something; to want. A sense of longing for a person or object or hoping for an outcome.

And what prompted the pondering of this word? Life. I want many things out of life. I have dreams, aspirations, and hopes that I one day wish to achieve. I pray for all these things that I want, and I trust God that He will bring them to pass.

LIVING A LEGACY

thumb

LEGACY: – anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/legacy)

There are many things happening in the world today.  And there is so much to do as well. Most people hope to make a difference in the world and with over 6 billion people on the faces of the planet, that task becomes a mammoth to swallow.

Everyone wants to be a celebrity, statesman, sportsman, or some huge success story that the world recognizes as having done something great. Mandela; Madonna; Gandhi; Oprah; Kanye; Rooney; Cruise; Clooney; Gates; Jobs; The list is endless. Many of us see our names being added onto that wall of fame list one day, hopefully sooner than later. We all desire to make it big.

There’s a quote or saying that I see flying around “You may not mean everything to the world, but you can mean the world to someone”.  I may have misquoted it, but the essence of the message has been conveyed.

Truth is we are not all called to be world-renowned successes. The celebrities that matter the most in my opinion are the unsung heroes of the world. I believe they are the true ‘bigger’ people. These are the people who have given their lives to a cause, which has made a positive impact in at least one person’s life. Those are the people worth celebrating. That is what living a legacy is all about

540086_434721806609020_453981554_nThe true essence of life is not in how many people know you and your accomplishments. It is in how many people will attend your funeral and have something to say about you, and how you impacted their lives positively.

Positive impact does not require gigantic leaps. It’s the simple things in life that make the biggest differences; A smile to brighten someone’s day; a word of encouragement; acts of kindness; actions of Love; calling a friend to check up on them; a hearty laugh; a joyful attitude… and the list goes on. These are the small things that if done regularly, and inculcated in your being, will create a legacy in your name. Better to create a lasting legacy with the people in your world, than to be known by everyone and not have them able to say anything about you.

Strive for a Legacy rather than Fame.

So, what have you done to make a difference in your world today?
