On matters Health and image – TOUGH LOVE EDITION

POLITE DISCLAIMER: DO NOT READ THIS POST IF THE TRUTH IS HARD TO HANDLE. This is NOT a post to attack anyone AT ALL, but to shed light on the lies and indiscipline people have come to settle for, and blame fashion and their environment for their choices. Read IT’S YOUR FAULT! DEAL WITH IT!

Sausages; chocolate; ice-cream; bacon; fries; white bread; fatty food; sodas; burgers and everything else with a cherry on top. I’m glad my mother retracted these things at an early age. Though it was a silent treatment, sulk-all-the-way-to-your-room battle (which never works, ESPECIALLY with my mother, who literally feels nothing for your protest to her motherly decisions), I am really in deep thankfulness of her dictatorial decision now. I see many parents allowing their children to indulge in such weapons of mass destruction, and I literally cry. How mothers carry crisps, and unhealthy snacks in their handbags for their babies when they cry for something to eat (I see this in church a lot) just infuriates me. That’s just hating your children and subjecting them to a lifelong of battle with food and their health. But that’s a topic for another day.

I like watching auditions for any competition. In this case, I will refer to a local TV program called Slim possible. It is really a great show, which is helping create awareness on the importance of healthy living in the country and I applaud that station for such an endeavor.

The concept of gender equality is one that deserves applause, especially for its human rights goal of preaching that ‘we are all human’, and one should not be treated differently, just because an individual is of a different species. At least that is how I understand the whole concept. I even did my own research on the definition of gender equality, just to see whether I kinda maybe missed the whole point; and this is what I managed to get from the UN.org:

Equality between women and men (gender equality): refers to the equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities of women and men and girls and boys. Equality does not mean that women and men will become the same but that women’s and men’s rights, responsibilities and opportunities will not depend on whether they are born male or female. Gender equality implies that the interests, needs and priorities of both women and men are taken into consideration, recognizing the diversity of different groups of women and men. Gender equality is not a women’s issue but should concern and fully engage men as well as women. Equality between women and men is seen both as a human rights issue and as a precondition for, and indicator of, sustainable people-centered development. Continue reading “Keep calm.
